Track Day Clutch Fail Repair?

During the first track day I have taken part in in my Renault Clio V6 I had a problem with the clutch.

During the track day stints the clutch would completely fail and it was impossible to change gear. On the occasions when this happened I was using the gears to help me slow down as I approached a corner so it was a little disconcerting.

After the track day I reported the problem to Scott at SG Motorsport and I arranged to pay him a visit in my Clio V6 to see if it was the clutch fluid or something else causing the problem.

Bedford Autodrome Track Day

This is the first track day I have done in my Renault Clio V6 Phase II. I purchased the car in December and it has had a complete brake refurb, including a strip down and the seals replaced. I had a high grade brake fluid and have K-Tec braided brake hoses. So the car should stop.

I have also installed a Janspeed ‘Spike’ exhaust which give a couple of extra BHP, is lighter than standard and also sounds great. Also, installed is a K&N air filter.

Bedford are renowned for their strict noise limits with a one strike and your home policy, so I was a little concerned about the exhaust. On the static test it measured 97dB, the max allowable is 101dB and there are a number of microphones dotted around the circuit measuring noise levels, which cannot be greater than 87.5dB. The car did not exceed the track noise limits.

Clio V6 Brake, Exhaust & Coil Upgrades

So, after purchasing my Renault Clio V6 Phase II in December 2013, I have established that there is a problem with the brakes pulling the car to the left. After speaking to Scott at SG Motorsport it is looking like I will need to have the brakes cleaned or refurbished.

I have purchased a Spike Janspeed exhaust which removed the secondary catalytic converters from the car. The exhaust increases power by a few bhp and also reduces the weight of the car by around 12kg. The exhaust also sounds better than the standard system and should pass almost all track day noise limit tests.
